用法辨析
- always是含有肯定意義的程度副詞,其基本意思是指某個(gè)行為發(fā)生頻率的百分之百或某種狀態(tài)存在的自始至終。
- always作“總是,永遠(yuǎn),始終”解時(shí)只與一般時(shí)連用,不與進(jìn)行時(shí)連用。用于進(jìn)行時(shí)或口語中表示再三的、多次的重復(fù)行為,常指令人不快或討人嫌的事情,不表示某時(shí)刻正在發(fā)生的動(dòng)作。always有時(shí)可用于現(xiàn)在完成時(shí),常譯為“一直〔向〕”“早已”。always有時(shí)還與can, could連用表示“無論如何”“實(shí)在不行的話”“當(dāng)然,肯定”等。always用在口語中還有“厭煩”“氣憤”“不滿”“責(zé)備”“驚奇”“贊許”等意思。

- always不能修飾not,但可被not修飾,即不說always not,只說not always表示部分否定。但always可修飾由表示否定意義的前后綴構(gòu)成的形容詞,意為“總是不”。
- always不可用very或how修飾,因?yàn)槠浔硎镜念l率已經(jīng)是100%,故不必再強(qiáng)調(diào)或詢問。
- always可用almost或nearly修飾,但不可用hardly修飾。
- always不用于比較等級(jí)。
- always指“每次,無例外的”,Rain and storm always comes with typhoon. always指得是百分百,如果十次中有八九次一樣,不能說always,只能說almost always。
