Remark: This genus has about 500 species, distributed in tropical and temperate regions. In Taiwan there are 18 species. The rhizome of Purple nutsedge is a common Chinese herbal medicine.
附注：本屬植物約有500馀種，分佈於熱帶及煖溫帶；臺灣有18種；香附子的根莖常被用作中葯材。
