用法辨析
- rather是程度副詞,用來修飾原級或比較級形容詞和副詞、動詞、分詞或單數(shù)名詞,意思是“有些”“相當(dāng)”“多少地”,常用于負(fù)面含意。rather可和too連用,作程度狀語,但此時不可以修飾比較級。
- rather用以減弱而不是加強其后所跟的詞或詞組的作用,如拒絕別人請求幫助時,顯得比較客氣,又如為了謙虛,可用這詞使自己在引人注目的場面表現(xiàn)得樂而不狂。
- rather一般放在不定冠詞前面,名詞前有形容詞時,也可放在不定冠詞后面。
